END OF AN ERA
END OF AN ERA
After more than 14 years serving the youth of Ōtautahi from premises in Bedford Row, Madras Street, Tuam Street and more recently Phillipstown Hub, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the time has come for White Elephant Trust to wind up operations.
Unfortunately the competitive climate for funding and reduced capacity to deliver on our purpose have combined to mean that we have reached the hard realisation that our organisation is no longer sustainable.
We have been backed and supported over the years by many funders and collaborators who walked alongside us and believed in our mission to provide opportunities that helped young people to explore their strengths, find their fit, and develop a strong sense of identity and belonging.
We have had the privilege to connect and work with so many awesome individuals and organisations, including amazing trustees, employees and volunteers that helped us deliver programmes and events for a diverse range of rad young people from all across the city.
To all of you who came, served, participated, and grew through your connection with White Elephant - we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
We will close our doors for the last time on June 28th but invite you all to come and say a last farewell during the Phillipstown Hub Matariki Celebrations 12-2.30pm on Saturday 29th June.
At W.E. our DNA is in music and DJing. W.E is for everyone no matter their beliefs or background.
White Elephant Trust was founded in 2005 by a group of DJ’s who wanted to create safe events and projects for young people. Since 2014 more than 17,000 have taken part in our events and programmes.
